The contribution value is calculated according to the contribution unit's property value in proportion to the space occupied by a given business establishment.
Rules for adopting the budget and calculating the contribution are set out in the Cities Towns Act (section 458.27). Payment of this contribution is mandatory for SDC members, who cannot vote at SDC meetings until they have done so.
The city collects the SDC contributions and remits them in full to each SDC’s administrative council. A separate invoice applies to SDC contributions. GST and QST are charged on SDC contributions.
Any payment of less than $300 must be made in a single installment.
Any payment of $300 or more can be made in two installments.
